Inna'lladhīna lā yuʾminūna bi-āyāti'llāhi lā yahdīhimu'llāhu wa lahum ʿadhābun alīm · Innamā yaftari'l-kadhiba'lladhīna lā yuʾminūna bi-āyāti'llāh, wa ulāʾika humu'l-kādhibūn
"Those who do not believe in the signs of God — God does not guide them, and for them there is a painful punishment. · Only those who do not believe in the signs of God invent lies; and it is they who are the liars."
| Verse | Expression | About whom |
|---|---|---|
| 101 | Innamā anta muftar | The charge — from the mouths of the addressees |
| 105 | Innamā yaftari'l-kadhiba'lladhīna lā yuʾminūn | The answer — the same particle, the same root |
And the particle innamā is repeated too. This is a repetition verifiable within the sūra, and the two sentences are built to the same pattern.
I record this as an observation about the word order: in rejecting the charge the verse does not change the word. It gives the same word back, with the same particle of restriction. The same movement was recorded in al-Aḥqāf for the word ifk (what was said in verse 11 was given back in verse 28); I rely on that treatment.
