40/51-55

"We shall surely help Our messengers and those who believe, both in the life of this world and on the day the witnesses will stand."

ٱلْأَشْهَٰد — the plural of shāhid. The matter of witnessing was treated in verse 19 of the sūra (yaʿlamu khāʾinata'l-aʿyun); here the witnesses are named as the name of a day.

That the help is said to be "in the life of this world" as well is worth recording and it is confirmed by the sūra's own example: in the forty-fifth verse it was stated that the man who concealed his faith was protected (fa-waqāhu'llāhu sayyiʾāti mā makarū). That is, the promise stands as having been fulfilled once inside the sūra.

فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ — three commands: be patient, ask forgiveness, glorify.

بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ — in the late afternoon and at daybreak. The root ب-ك-ر was treated at al-Insān 76/25 and at al-Wāqiʿa 56/36 (abkār). By naming the two extreme times, everything between them is covered.
